The Polaroid Playlist
The Polaroid Playlist started as a marriage of two hobbies grounded in storytelling—polaroid photography and music. Polaroid photos showcase our stories through instant film that captures those unfiltered, special moments in time. And through music, we have the opportunity tell those stories with curated lyrics, rhythm, and melody.
The stories focused on in this project center around this idea of community, defined as, “the free association individuals collectively moving with shared experiences and ideas for the support and love of another.” The collections and playlists displayed investigate this definition by attempting to answer one of three questions:
What does community look like in different locations?
What does community create?
What does the absence of community look like?
While these photos and playlists will not provide definite answers to the above, the hope is that they provide a new perspective to help us all figure it out.
A special thank you to the friends and family who allowed me and my camera in some of our most intimate moments, the strangers who graciously offered their vulnerability, and the city that continues to inspire me everyday.
